Wake up surrounded by nature in the heart of the Krnap National Park, relax in the wellness center, and enjoy your free time actively. The best ridge trails from here include a hike to the source of the Elbe River or a trip to Sněžka. For an easy walk, even with a stroller, we recommend a short trip towards Moravská Bouda. In winter, head to the slopes of the largest ski resort in the Czech Republic, just a 10-minute drive or a bus ride directly from the hotel.

Your children can enjoy horseback rides and spend the rest of the day in the pool or learning to ski with an instructor on the slope right in front of the hotel. Don’t miss our wonderful wellness center, which also offers massages.

Our reception is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and we’re happy to recommend activities based on the weather. If you’re planning an excursion, we can lend you trekking poles and a child carrier. In winter, we also offer snowshoes and sleds for the whole family, and crampons for winter hiking can be purchased at the reception.

  • Dívčí a Mužské kameny

Dívčí and nearby Mužské kameny are located right on the Czech–Polish border, along the red-marked Czech–Polish Friendship Trail above the Medvědí důl (Bear Valley), approximately 3 km from Erlebachova Bouda. These rock formations break up the otherwise uniform landscape of the Krkonoše massif, which is mostly characterized by flattened plateaus.

Geologically, these granite rocks are classified as tors, while larger formations are called rock walls. Dívčí and Mužské kameny are among the best-known tors on the Czech side of the Krkonoše. These tower-like rocks were formed during the Mesozoic and Tertiary periods, when erosion removed the surrounding, less resistant rocks, gradually exposing blocks of solid granite that had been hidden deep underground.

As is typical for granite, the exposed rock fractured into angular blocks under the influence of frost. Over time, further weathering and smoothing shaped them into their present rounded, loaf-like forms.

  • Labská Dam – Rappelling & Rope Bridge Adventure

Labská Dam welcomes visitors to Špindlerův Mlýn right at the town’s entrance. It is the first dam on the Elbe River, a registered technical monument, and a great destination for an easy trip from the town center – even with strollers and small children.

    CONSTRUCTION TOOK 6 YEARS

The dam was built as a flood protection measure following catastrophic floods in the late 19th century. It helps regulate high water levels and protects areas downstream. Construction began in 1910 by the Vienna-based company Redlich & Berger, with funding of 3.5 million Austro-Hungarian crowns from the former Provincial Commission for River Regulation. The project was designed by the Technical Department for River Regulation and led by engineer Josef Plicka.

Although the structure was completed six years later, final inspection and official commissioning took place in 1918.

A major reconstruction was carried out between 1966 and 1986, during which leaks in the dam wall – present since its early operation – were sealed. The initials (Czechoslovak Republic) are engraved in the center of the dam face. The most recent renovation occurred in 2006–2007, including repairs to the dam crest.

    TECHNICAL DATA

    • Gravity arch dam of the Intze type

    • Max. dam height from base: 41.5 m

    • Crest length: 153.5 m

The Tree Top Walk is located on the edge of Janské Lázně in the Krkonoše Mountains. The highlight of the trail is a 45-metre-high observation tower, offering panoramic views over the surrounding treetops and the spa town below. The horizontal part of the walkway runs 24 metres above the ground, and the full trail through the forest canopy is 1,511 metres long. You can descend from the tower via a dry slide.

What makes the Krkonoše Tree Top Walk truly unique is that it also leads visitors underground. There, you can explore the microworld of soil, from tree roots to tiny forest organisms. The interactive underground space reveals the secrets of the forest floor and the complex root system of Krkonoše trees.

Above ground, the trail gradually rises to a height of 23 metres. Along the route, visitors of all ages can enjoy three educational stops and three playful adventure stations, where they can test their courage while safely peering down through the structure. Everything is secured, and falling is not possible.

Around two-thirds into the walk, the 45-metre lookout tower invites visitors to climb even higher – and for the way down, there's a 50-metre-long slide (ride: CZK 50). The trail is also fully wheelchair-accessible, making it open to all, including visitors with disabilities.

Visitors can now look directly down through the transparent floor to the treetops and nature below their feet.

The castle offers three guided tour routes, night tours, falconry demonstrations, and concerts throughout the year.

The current French Neo-Gothic appearance of the castle is thanks to Prince Camille de Rohan.
Its picture gallery holds the largest collection of French portraiture in Central Europe, and the intricate woodcarvings throughout the interiors are masterpieces of Czech craftsmanship.

Sychrov is one of the most important examples of romantic French-style Neo-Gothic architecture in the Czech Republic. It is open to the public to a large extent, allowing visitors to gain an authentic impression of life at a rural aristocratic estate in the second half of the 19th century.

The castle rooms are furnished with original period furniture, paintings, and accessories, and most interiors are richly decorated with wood carvings.

Visitors can look forward to seeing over 2,300 animals, including the rare okapi, as well as fascinating exhibits such as Tropical Swamps, African Savannah, and Water Worlds.

The Safari Park has achieved global recognition for its conservation efforts. It is the only facility in the world to have successfully bred the northern white rhino in human care, and has already transported eight rhinos to Africa as part of rewilding projects.

In the African Safari, guests travel among freely roaming zebras, antelopes, birds, and – since 2017 – even giraffes.

Indoor pavilions and exhibits are open year-round, including Bird World, Water Worlds, Venomous Africa, indoor exhibits for rhinos, pygmy hippos, okapi, and the Big Cats Pavilion. In 2018, the Neumann Villa, the park’s historic administrative building, opened the unique exhibition "Art Beneath the Skin", presenting the anatomy of vertebrates – including the skeleton of Nabiré, the last northern white rhino that lived and died in Europe.

In 2019, a covered giraffe pavilion was opened. In 2021, the hippo bridge was reconstructed.

The most famous part of the Bohemian Paradise is undoubtedly the Prachov Rocks – a true paradise for rock climbers. This sandstone rock town lies about 7 km northwest of the town of Jičín, and visitors can choose from several marked hiking trails.

The heavily eroded plateau was formed from sandstone, marlstone, and chalk deposits during the Mesozoic era. In the Neogene period, small volcanic intrusions penetrated the Cretaceous rocks, contributing to the disintegration of the original plateau. Over time, the forces of wind and water shaped the landscape into towers, pillars, and blocks. Some rock formations reach up to 40 meters in height.

A dense network of hiking trails leads through gorges, ravines, narrow passages, and across the tops of sandstone cliffs with spectacular viewpoints and magical hidden spots.
Popular stops include the Bohemian Paradise Viewpoint, American Cave, Professor Haken’s Lookout, and the Emperor’s Corridor.

On hot summer days, tired hikers can cool off at the natural pool "Pelíšek", named after the local forest spirit of the rocks.

The château’s elegant halls also serve as venues for conferences, weddings, concerts, receptions, and other events.

Attached to the château is a beautiful 4-hectare landscaped park, featuring classicizing Baroque sculptures.

The Dětenice château resort also invites you to visit the Castle Brewery, the Medieval Tavern, and the Medieval Hotel – for a truly immersive historical experience.

ACTIVITIES IN THE SURROUNDINGS

We are happy to arrange bowling in the neighbouring Military Convalescent Home, which is only 100 m from our hotel. Also visit the Aquapark Spindleruv Mlyn with its swimming pool, three water slides, wild river and other attractions, which is only 10 minutes by car or bus directly from the hotel. For adventurers and adrenaline enthusiasts, there is a range of outdoor activities offered by our partner company Yellowpoint, including the ZIP LINE above the Labská dam.
